*Job Summary:*

The Employment Consultant is responsible for providing professional career guidance and job placement services to clients. This role involves working with job seekers to assess their skills and career goals, connecting them with potential employers, and providing ongoing support to ensure successful job placements.

*Key Responsibilities:*

  1. *Client Assessment and Counseling:*

– Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients’ skills, work experience, education, and career goals.

– Develop individualized employment plans based on client assessments.

– Provide career counseling and advice on job search strategies, resume writing, and interview preparation.

 

  1. *Job Placement Services:*

– Build and maintain relationships with local employers to understand their hiring needs.

– Match clients with suitable job opportunities and arrange interviews with potential employers.

– Facilitate job placements by providing clients with job leads and advocating on their behalf to employers.

  1. *Workshops and Training:*

– Plan and deliver workshops on various employment-related topics such as job search techniques, resume building, and interview skills.

– Coordinate training sessions to enhance clients’ employability, including soft skills and technical skills development.

  1. *Employer Engagement:*

– Actively network with employers to promote the services offered by the employment center.

– Organize job fairs and employer information sessions to connect clients with hiring organizations.

– Provide employers with information on available incentives and support for hiring clients.

  1. *Follow-up and Support:*

– Monitor the progress of clients after job placement to ensure a smooth transition and address any issues that arise.

– Provide post-placement support, including follow-up counselling and assistance with job retention strategies.

– Maintain accurate records of client interactions and employment outcomes.

  1. *Data Management and Reporting:*

– Keep detailed and confidential records of client assessments, services provided, and employment outcomes.

– Prepare regular reports on client progress, job placements, and program effectiveness.

– Utilise data to refine services and improve the overall effectiveness of the employment program.

*Qualifications:*

– Bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma in Human Resources, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.

– Previous experience in career counselling, job placement, or a related field.

– Strong understanding of the local labour market and employment trends.

– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

– Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

– Proficiency in using career assessment tools and job search databases.

– Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

*Preferred Skills:*

– Certification in career counselling or a related field.

– Experience working with diverse populations, including individuals with disabilities or other barriers to employment.

– Knowledge of employment laws and regulations.

*Work Environment:*

– This position typically operates in an office environment but may require travel to meet with clients or employers.

– Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to attend job fairs or community events.

*Physical Requirements:*

– Ability to sit for extended periods.

– Ability to use a computer and telephone for prolonged periods.
